For your appointment:
- Wear comfortable, loose fitting clothing.
- If you are sick or are still recovering from, for example a cold, the flu or an infection or are taking anti-biotics - rather wait until you are fully recovered before you perform your test. Infections and various medications can raise your heart rate, which will affect your test result.
- Ensure that you are well rested prior to testing.
- Time of day: There may be a difference between doing the test early in the morning (when you are still fresh) or later in the evening (after a tiring day)
- Periodization: If you are an athlete your results may be influenced by the training cycle you are in.
What to avoid before your test:
- Avoid eating a large meal, less than one hour prior to the test.
- Avoid alcohol, caffeine, or other stimulants for approximately 3 hours prior to testing.
- Avoid exercise or strenuous physical activity on the day of the test.
- Avoid performing abnormally strenuous activity on the day prior to testing.
What to bring:
- Medical aid membership card (and ID)
