Fitness Assessments

Learn more about your fitness levels with the Biokineticist at your Virgin Active club. You will need your medical aid membership card, exercise gear and the assessment fee. Please note that you will need to pay your Biokineticist directly after your assessment. If you are on a medical scheme plan that covers the cost, you can claim this amount from your day-to-day benefits, if you have funds available.

For your appointment:
  • Wear comfortable, loose fitting clothing.
  • If you are sick or are still recovering from, for example a cold, the flu or an infection or are taking anti-biotics - rather wait until you are fully recovered before you perform your test. Infections and various medications can raise your heart rate, which will affect your test result.
  • Ensure that you are well rested prior to testing.
  • Time of day: There may be a difference between doing the test early in the morning (when you are still fresh) or later in the evening (after a tiring day)
  • Periodization: If you are an athlete your results may be influenced by the training cycle you are in.

What to avoid before your test:
  • Avoid eating a large meal, less than one hour prior to the test.
  • Avoid alcohol, caffeine, or other stimulants for approximately 3 hours prior to testing.
  • Avoid exercise or strenuous physical activity on the day of the test.
  • Avoid performing abnormally strenuous activity on the day prior to testing.

What to bring:
  • Medical aid membership card (and ID)
  • Means of payment: Your phone with Snapscan App, Credit/debit card, Cash.
